Frequently Asked Questions

What should I look forward to when I meet with you?

In your first meeting with me, we’ll talk about your current issues and what you hope to achieve through therapy. We’ll get to know each other better and start creating a plan that fits your needs. All of this will happen in a private and safe place.

How do you adjust your counseling to fit different people?

I think that therapy should be different for every person who needs help. Depending on your past experiences, your needs, and your therapy goals, I might suggest different proven therapies and methods. These could include things like talk therapy, IFS therapy, Brainspotting, or even Walk and Talk therapy, based on what you prefer. I also work remotely, so you don’t have to be local to Chandler—I’m licensed to work in the entire state of Arizona.

How long does therapy typically last with you?

How long we work together in counseling will depend on what you want to achieve and the kind of problems you’re dealing with. Some people start to feel better and make progress after a few counseling sessions, while others need a longer time. We’ll check how you’re doing often and change our plan if needed.

What if I feel scared about starting therapy or talking about painful topics?

It’s totally normal to feel worried about starting counseling. I do my best to make sure you feel supported and not judged so that you can share freely when you’re ready. We’ll work together on this, because your comfort is the most important thing to me.

How can I pay for my counseling sessions?

Although I don’t bill insurance companies directly, I can give you an invoice that you can send to your insurance company. They might pay you back for the therapy sessions. For your convenience, I accept all major credit cards, as well as FSA and HSA cards. Do you struggle with completing paperwork? I get it. That’s why I also partner with a company called Mentaya. For a small fee, they can submit your OON claims on your behalf--making your reimbursement process easier. Learn more about my fees here.

In what ways do you provide neurodiversity-affirming care?

Counseling with me is highly individualized to your preferences and needs. I work consciously & continuously to create a therapeutic space in which you can express yourself authentically to get the most out of your therapy experience. Some examples of ND-affirming practices available include an office space that is supportive of sensory needs (i.e., soft lighting, fidgets, bilateral music, and more). You also have options when it comes to how you participate in counseling whether it’s by incorporating movement with a Walk & Talk session, having a ‘video off’ virtual session, or an eye-contact optional in-person meeting, your comfort and preference are always priority #1.
